Tom Sater is an American anchor and meteorologist working for CNN as a meteorologist and weather anchor. He joined the CNN news team in 2015, after previously working for CNNI.

Sater works for CNN International as a meteorologist and weather anchor. She is based in Atlanta, which is the network’s world headquarters. Sater is a meteorologist who has won five Emmys and has also done work for CNN/U.S. and HLN. The American Meteorological Society (AMS) has given him the Seal of Approval and he is a member of the National Weather Association (NWA).
Sater has written about many foreign weather stories, such as Super Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013. He was one of the first foreign newscasters to say that the storm’s strong winds made it the strongest typhoon ever to hit land on any landmass. This happened in the Philippines, where the storm made landfall. The Royal Television Society Awards earlier this year gave CNNI the “Best News Coverage – International” award for its coverage of Typhoon Haiyan.
Sater was a meteorologist in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Georgia, Cincinnati, Ohio, Montgomery, Alabama, and Lexington, Kentucky, before joining CNNI. As the chief meteorologist at WKYT in Lexington, Kentucky, he won a regional Emmy in 1998 for Outstanding Weather Anchor. During his time at WTTG in Washington, D.C., he won the same award four years in a row.
