Erica Hill is an American Anchor and National Correspondent working for CNN as a primary substitute anchor and a correspondent. She joined the CNN news team in July 2016, after previously working for NBC News.

Erica Hill is a CNN anchor and national correspondent. She has been a morning TV host for many years and has won many journalism awards. Most recently, she was the host of HLN’s daily New York-based afternoon news show On the Story with Erica Hill. Hill co-hosted six CNN/Sesame Street Town Hall specials for families about COVID-19 while she worked at CNN. One of these specials won the network its first-ever Daytime Emmy Award nomination.
She also led CNN’s coverage of the pandemic and has reported from the scene of many big news events, such as the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election in Nevada, the Las Vegas shooting, Hurricane Irma in Florida, and more. Before, Hill was a co-anchor on NBC’s weekend edition of TODAY. She also worked for NBC News as an anchor and reporter for TODAY, NBC Nightly News, and MSNBC. She was a host and reporter at CBS News before she joined NBC.
Before being named the new co-anchor of the Saturday version of The Early Show on CBS on September 22, 2008, Hill had been filling in for six weeks. The first show she did as the regular host was on September 27, 2008. She kept going on AC360° for CNN until January 8, 2010, when it was reported on AC360° that she was leaving CNN right away to work for CBS News.
CBS announced on January 13, 2010, that Hill would be taking over for Russ Mitchell on the weekday version of The Early Show the following week. On January 18, 2010, Hill was publicly welcomed to the show by the cast. Hill was the host of the CBS Evening News when Katie Couric wasn’t there on June 29 and July 5, 2010. Hill was also the main female host of The Early Show in June 2010 while Maggie Rodriguez was on maternity leave. She was also the host of the October 4, 2011, CBS Evening News while Scott Pelley was in Afghanistan.
Erica Hill was named co-anchor of CBS’s The Early Show on November 30, 2010, and started on January 3, 2011. CBS said on November 15, 2011, that Charlie Rose, Gayle King, and Hill would all be co-anchors of a new CBS News morning show called CBS This Morning, which would start on January 9, 2012. CBS said on July 26, 2012, that Norah O’Donnell would take Hill’s place on CBS This Morning in late 2012. From September 2012 to November 1, 2012, Hill worked as a Special Correspondent for CBS News. She contributed to all CBS shows, but she never went on air in this role.
Hill first worked for CNN and HLN as a host and tech reporter in 2003. She was made a co-anchor of Prime News in 2005 as part of the start of Home Prime by the network. At the same time, she was the host of regular news updates for CNN’s main evening shows, such as Anderson Cooper 360° (AC360°). She went to AC360 full-time at the beginning of 2008.
Hill started her job as a production assistant at ZDTV/TechTV, which used to be a cable network. She quickly worked her way up to producer and then became an anchor and reporter for the network. NBC News’s cross-platform project “In Plain Sight: Poverty in America” got a Peabody Award in 2013. Hill was also a part of that team.
