Brad Parks is an American news director working for CNN as a Regional Newsgathering Director. He joined the CNN news team in August 2004, after previously working for CNN as an intern.

Parks works for CNN in the Chicago office and is in charge of gathering news for the Midwest region. In this job, Parks is in charge of the editorial direction and day-to-day activities of the network’s teams and bureaus in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Denver.
Parks has been in charge of breaking news teams since 2019, during several major events, such as the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, the immigration problem at the US-Mexico border, and the COVID-19 pandemic. His work recently won an Emmy Award for its coverage of the protests in Minneapolis after George Floyd’s death and the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin.
Both scripting and field production are things that Parks has done for a long time. He has worked for the network for almost 20 years and has been in charge of organizing presidential debates, town halls, and coverage of election night. He has also been in charge of producing several CNN red carpet shows for the Oscars and helped plan the network’s coverage of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Parks became a part of CNN’s Larry King Live in 2007. He worked as a producer for King in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., but he spent most of his time in the field, setting up talks with famous people, world leaders, and newsmakers.
In 2014, Parks was hired as the Senior Broadcast Producer of CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront in New York. In this role, he helped with the show’s daily planning, schedule, and broadcast. Since then, he has also helped the network’s program development team come up with ideas for and start up several shows, such as “The Messy Truth” with Van Jones.
Parks has done a lot of traveling for the network. He has done in-depth interviews with the Dalai Lama, Prince Albert of Monaco, former President Bill Clinton, former Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. He has also created specials and shows live from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. After the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, he was one of the first CNN producers to arrive in Port-au-Prince.
Parks’ first job was as an intern at CNN’s San Francisco office while he was still in college. He is happy to be from California and loves the outdoors and skiing. He went to the University of California, Berkeley, and got his bachelor’s degree in political economy.
