Cornish works as a CNN host and anchor. She is the host of the weekly CNN Audio podcast The Assignment with Audie Cornish and also reports on national, local, and breaking news for CNN. At the 2023 Ambies Awards and the 2023 Black Podcasting Awards, the show won “Best Interview Podcast” and “Best News & Politics Podcast.” After twenty years as a reporter, Cornish joins CNN as a co-host of All Things Considered, NPR’s main news show.

In 2005, she started working for NPR’s National Desk from Nashville. From there, she reported on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and other stories from the Southeast of the United States. After that, Cornish moved to Washington, D.C., to work for NPR’s news team. There, he covered the 2008 presidential election and President Barack Obama’s historic win.

She won a George Peabody Award for her work with David Isay’s StoryCorps 9/11 Project and was named host of Weekend Edition Sunday in 2011. People she has interviewed include Bruce Springsteen, Senator Elizabeth Warren, former President Barack Obama, and literary greats like Ta-Nehisi Coates.

She got her high school diploma from Randolph. After that, she got a journalism degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She interned at NPR and worked with college radio station WMUA while she was there.
