Steven Jackson is an American anchor and reporter working for WTOL 11 and FOX 36 as a morning news, traffic anchor, and lifestyle show host. He joined the WTOL 11 news team in April 2019, after previously working for TEGNA.
Jackson is a proud graduate of Seton Academy. From there, he went to Tougaloo College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in mass communication and media in 2012. His passion for news began at an early age. Right across the street from his residence, a major news story broke. He thought journalism was for him when he observed how the reporters interacted with his neighbors by going door to door and asking them about their observations. He had never seen anything so cool. Steven experienced the newsroom for the first time the summer before he entered his senior year at Historic Tougaloo College.
He was an intern at Jackson, Mississippi’s WLBT-TV. Jackson stayed near photojournalist Karlos Sanders there. He acknowledges that Karlos helped him get ready to work in the industry. Soon after his internship ended, Steven was hired for his first job. He started working at 16 WAPT News Jackson, MS, as a photojournalist. Steven’s first story aired four months after he started working, and he soon became a one-man band reporter fill-in. He will now report Monday through Friday for Toledo News Now News as a member of the team. Jackson enjoys community service and encourages young people to go after their dreams.
