Laura Ingraham Career

Ingraham graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1981. She pursued her higher education at Dartmouth College, where she studied English literature and Russian, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985. Following her undergraduate studies, Ingraham worked as a speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan’s domestic policy advisor for several years. Later, she enrolled at the University of Virginia School of Law, where she served as a notes editor for the Virginia Law Review. In 1991, she graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. She worked as a speechwriter in the Reagan administration for the Domestic Policy Advisor in the late 1980s. During this time, she briefly served as the editor of The Prospect, the magazine issued by Concerned Alumni of Princeton.

Following her graduation from law school in 1991, she served as a law clerk for Judge Ralph K. Winter Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1991 to 1992. She then worked as a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas from 1992 to 1993. Subsequently, she practiced law at the firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. In 1995, she gained visibility when she appeared on the cover of The New York Times Magazine in connection with a story about young conservatives. Along with Jay P. Lefkowitz, she organized the first Dark Ages Weekend in response to Renaissance Weekend in 1996. Over the years, she had three stints as a cable television host.

She initially became a host on MSNBC in 1996. Later in the late 1990s, she became a CBS commentator and hosted the MSNBC program Watch It!. After some time, on her radio program, she started campaigning for another cable television show. In 2008, Fox News Channel gave her a three-week trial run for a new show entitled Just In. Finally, in October 2017, she became the host of a new Fox News Channel program called The Ingraham Angle. She launched The Laura Ingraham Show in April 2001. The show was heard on 306 stations and on XM Satellite Radio. It was originally syndicated by Westwood One but moved to Talk Radio Network in 2004. In 2012, she was rated as the No. 5 radio show in America by Talkers Magazine.

In November 2012, she announced her departure from Talk Radio Network, declining to renew her contract with TRN after nearly a decade of being associated with the network. She was the second major host from TRN’s lineup to leave the network that year: TRN’s other major program, The Savage Nation, left TRN two months earlier. Her new program, syndicated by Courtside Entertainment Group, began airing on January 2, 2013 and went off the air in December 2018. Additionally, she continues to produce podcast material for Courtside’s PodcastOne division. Currently, she is the host of FOX News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle,” which airs weeknights at 7 PM/ET. She initially joined the network in 2007 as a contributor.

In her role as the host of “The Ingraham Angle,” she strives to go beyond the typical Washington discourse, engaging in direct conversations with unexpected voices and those directly impacted by the day’s news. The show emphasizes the stories of everyday, hard-working Americans who form the backbone of the nation. Additionally, it underscores the significance of faith in the United States and features stories that highlight the American spirit. Throughout her tenure at the network, she has conducted interviews with numerous political figures, including presidents, members of Congress, government officials, and White House representatives. She has also hosted well-received town halls, such as “The Ingraham Angle Town Hall: Red State Trailblazers,” “The Ingraham Angle Town Hall: Time for Class,” and “The Ingraham Angle Town Hall: Georgia and the Battle for Senate.”

Beyond her television work, Ingraham co-hosts “Laura & Raymond” on FOX Nation, the network’s on-demand subscription-based streaming service. In this program, alongside co-host Raymond Arroyo, she explores the latest in politics and culture. Aside from her role at FOX News, she hosts “The Laura Ingraham Show,” a podcast that delves into various topics. Her previous radio program earned her recognition as the most-listened-to woman in political talk radio on numerous stations nationwide. Finally, she has authored several books that reflect her conservative viewpoints. In “The Hillary Trap,” was first published in June 2000 and later updated in 2005. In the book, she accuses Hillary Clinton of adopting a superficial form of feminism.

She also argues that her liberal approach has contributed to a culture that rewards dependency, fosters fragmentation, undermines families and glorifies victimhood. In “Shut Up & Sing,” published on October 25, 2003, she criticizes liberal elites across various domains, praising Middle Americans as crucial contributors to healthy democratic societies. “Power to the People,” released on September 11, 2007, a New York Times bestseller, focuses on what Ingraham perceives as the “pornification” of America. She is advocating for active participation in culture and endorsing conservative values in family life, education, and patriotism. “The Obama Diaries,” a New York Times number one bestseller published on July 13, 2010. This book takes a satirical approach by presenting a fictional collection of diary entries attributed to President Barack Obama.

It also allows Ingraham to critique him, his family, and his administration. “Of Thee I Zing,” a New York Times bestseller published on July 12, 2011, offers a collection of humorous anecdotes pointing out what Ingraham sees as the decline of American culture, addressing various aspects from muffin tops to body shots. In her 2017 publication, “Billionaire at the Barricades,” she explains Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory as the continuation of a populist revolution initiated by Ronald Reagan, supported by the working class.

Laura Ingraham Relationship With Brother.

Ingraham has openly expressed derogatory views about members of the LGBTQ+ community both on “The Ingraham Angle” and her podcast. Her alignment with several aggressive far-right positions has been a longstanding public stance. This has led to a significant conflict with her brother, Curtis Ingraham, who is gay and has consistently and unabashedly criticized his sister’s views. Curtis Ingraham has publicly called out his sister on various occasions. One notable instance was when he referred to her as a “monster” on Twitter (his account is now private). In 2022, Curtis took issue with her segment titled “Doom & Groom.” Here, she argued against what she perceived as inappropriate teachings about gender identity in schools.

Curtis, being both gay and a teacher, shared a clip from the segment on social media, expressing strong disagreement with his sister’s claims and accusing her of having a new talking point to provoke her followers. He went on to criticize her apparent support for Putin amid the conflict in Ukraine, calling her a “monster.”This isn’t the first time Curtis has used the term “monster” to describe his sister. In 2018, during the Donald Trump presidency, he told the Daily Beast that while she is intelligent and articulate, her emotional core appears to be lacking, describing her as “ready to destroy.” These statements vividly illustrate the deep divide between the siblings.

In an interview with the “MeidasTouch” podcast, Curtis delved into his perspective on how their family dynamics may have influenced his younger sister and why he consciously chose a different path. Curtis disclosed that their father was a “Nazi sympathizer” who was abusive and struggled with alcoholism. He believes that his sister, influenced by their shared childhood experiences, tends to express the anger they both endured, and this behavior is reinforced positively by those around her. Their sibling relationship wasn’t always strained. Curtis mentioned to the Daily Beast that they used to be close, even spending holidays together, despite their political differences. In 1997, Ingraham publicly commended Curtis and his partner, Richard, for leading a life of “dignity, fidelity, and courage” as Richard battled AIDS. She expressed support by visiting them in San Francisco.

However, since the late ’90s, her shift towards the religious right, particularly regarding her opinions on gay marriage, became a significant point of contention between them. In 2018, she confirmed their long-standing estrangement. Given the subsequent events, including her involvement in promoting anti-LGBTQ+ ideas on Fox News, it appears unlikely that they have since reconnected.
