Kris Anderson Biography
Kris Anderson is an American five-time Emmy award-winning anchor working for WTVJ. He serves as a weekday morning anchor at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. alongside Constance Jones.
Miami is Anderson’s native home and he began his career at NBC6 as an intern over two decades ago. For the last 7 years, he worked in Boston, Miami where he served as a morning anchor and consumer investigator. Kris received Emmy awards in 2020 and 2021. He received an Emmy for his anchoring work on “7News Today in New England” where he received the “Most Outstanding Morning Newscast” award. Later in 2019, he received another Emmy for “Outstanding Team Coverage.” Furthermore, Anderson has also been honored with two Emmys in 2018 and 2017 for his “Solve it 7” investigative reports.
In 2001, Anderson secured his first on-air job at WOAY in Oak Hill, West Virginia where he served as a weekday sports anchor. While Kris was at the station, he was promoted in 2003, to serving as an evening news anchor. He later joined WREG in Memphis, Tennessee where he served as a weekday morning anchor from 2004. Furthermore, while he was there, he led the #1 rated “Daybreak” newscast for nine years, and he was the station’s consumer investigator.
In addition, Kris attended Miami Central High School where he graduated with a high school diploma. While Anderson was in high school, he was an athlete and he is a brown belt in Goju-ryu karate. Later on, he joined Florida International University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in communications.
