John Anderson is an American sports anchor who is currently working at ESPN. He serves as the 11 pm sports anchor on SportsCenter at the station.

John Anderson is an American sports anchor who is currently working at ESPN. He serves as the 11 pm sports co-anchor of  SportsCenter alongside John Buccigross, and Michael Eaves. In addition, he joined the ESPN news team in June 1999. Previously, he worked at  KPHO-TV in Phoenix, Ariz where he served as a weekend sports anchor from 1996 to 1999.

Furthermore, he has also worked at KOTV in Tulsa, Okla where he served as a weekend sports anchor and sports reporter. Additionally from 1990 to 1996, he served as a sports photographer and reporter at Tulsa’s KTUL-TV from 1988 to 1990. In addition, he started his broadcasting career at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri.

He made his debut as co-host of ESPN’s presentation of the 2013 ING New York City Marathon on November 3, 2013. Prior to working alongside fellow SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm and served as the host of the five-hour race telecast aired nationally on ESPN2 and in New York City on ABC7. Furthermore, he has also served as the co-host of ABC’s Wipeout. He supplied the voice of a futuristic alien sportscaster in an episode of the Disney XD animated series Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero in 2015.

He attended the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism where he graduated in 1987, with a bachelor’s degree. Also, a four-year member of the men’s track team, competing in the high jump, and captained the squad his senior season. In addition, for his contributions to the University, he was honored with the Mizzou Faculty-Alumni Award in 2007 prior to also interning for one journalism student that he began in 2003.

Green Bay is his native home. The Oklahoma Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists presented him with the Outstanding Sports Feature Reporting Award in 1994 and 1995. In addition, he received the Associated Press Television Award in Arizona for outstanding performance in broadcast journalism in 1997. Furthermore, he co-wrote a book with golfer Chi Chi Rodriquez, Chi Chi’s Golf Games You Gotta Play in 2003.

Together with his wife, they began the Anderson Family Charitable Foundation which assisted in supplying underprivileged youth with backpacks, school supplies, and food. In addition, he completed the NYC Marathon as Captain of Team Tillman in honor of raising money for the Pat Tillman Foundation in November 2010.
