Jeremiah Brent is an American interior designer, television personality, actor, and producer. He is best known for The Ode (2008), Nate & Jeremiah by Design (2017), The Nate & Jeremiah Home Project (2021), Say I Do (2020) and Home Made Simple (2015). He rose to fame after appearing on The Rachel Zoe Project (2011).
Jeremiah Brent Career
Brent appeared in a number of TV series, but his big break came in 2011 when he joined Rachel Zoe as a style associate for her syndicated show The Rachel Zoe Project during its fourth season. He has also appeared on the covers of different publications such as Domino magazine, Architectural Digest, Harper’s Bazaar, and People magazine. Brent hosted the two seasons of Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network’s Emmy Award-winning program Home Made Simple. He co-founded the TLC network television program Nate & Jeremiah by Design in 2017 with his spouse, fellow interior designer Nate Berkus. Additionally, he joined Living Spaces in 2017, specifically Living Spaces presents Behind the Design.
In 2002, Brent—then known as Jeremy Johnson—graduated from Modesto High School. Brent participated actively in speech, drama, and debate at Modesto High School. Brent and Nate Berkus appeared in clothing retailer Banana Republic’s “True Outfitters” advertisements in Rolling Stone and InStyle, among other magazines, at the beginning of 2014. According to the New York Times, they were the first same-sex pair to appear in magazine advertisements. The September 2015 issue of Architectural Digest magazine included a profile on their Manhattan apartment. The hummingbird is Brent’s favorite tattoo. It is his totem and first brings to mind his late grandmother Arlene, who Jeremiah spent time with while she was alive and she told him that there were always hummingbirds around. After she passed away, Jeremiah started to notice hummingbirds everywhere—when there was a significant change in his life, in moments of uncertainty or worry, and even in moments of immense pride and joy. The initial instance in which Jeremiah felt a part of something greater, something more profound; he claims to have sensed the universe’s vibration and his connection to that “divine” whisper. Brent chose to have the tattoo as a representation of transformation, reaffirmation of connection, celebration, and change.
The Art of Shapes was inspired by sacred geometry. It gives many geometric shapes with holy significance and symbols. Additionally, he changed the proportions to reflect the families of Jeremiah and Nate. It may not be evident to you, but Nate has a Jewish star. This star links to two circles: Poppy, the large circle, and Oskar, the small circle. It is meant to symbolize the movement of energy. Moreover, the way it cascades into one another.
In addition, he has a Hamsa or Palm of Fatima. It was modified by Jeremiah Brent to include an evil eye shielding the poppy and a poppy blossom in the middle of the palm. The tattoo’s dimensions correspond to Poppy Brent Berkus’s hand size at the time of creation. Poppy used to touch it frequently when she was smaller, but now that she’s older, it’s twice as big! I acquired it as a representation of her and her defense. Oskar Brent Berkus is still getting one planned by Jeremiah.
