Jenny Dean is an American anchor and reporter working for 10 Tampa Bay as a morning Brightside reporter on weekdays at 4:30 a.m. She joined the 10 Tampa Bay news team in March 2015, after previously working for Clear Channel Radio.
Dean received her Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television, and Film from Northern Kentucky University. In Quincy, Illinois, she was hired as an anchor and reporter for the first time on TV. Dean then traveled to Tampa in 2000 to anchor and report. She had no idea that a few months into her stay in Florida, it would become the focal point of one of the world’s most significant stories—the 2000 election and recount. Moreover, Dean reported on 9/11 while George W. Bush, the president at the time, received the news in a Sarasota classroom.
Dean also has to remember all of the hurricane coverage that accompanies news from Florida. It is particularly noteworthy from 2004 because of Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne. Dean switched from television to radio in 2005. She was a half of the Travis and Jenny Show on Tampa’s US 103.5. Despite her passion for the work, she began hosting the morning news on 970 WFLA radio in 2013 since she was born with a news instinct. Then, a few years later, Dean made a complete circle. She began working at 10 Tampa Bay and hasn’t looked back. In addition to her work in media, Dean is an avid singer.
