David Schiele is an American anchor and reporter working for 10 Tampa Bay as a weekend sports anchor. He joined the 10 Tampa Bay news team in April 2022, after previously working for WBIR.
David Schiele Career
Schiele attended Hampton University for his first year of college. There, he wrote the screenplay for the sports segment for their weekly student newscast. In addition, he produced both live and recorded programs as a volunteer at 88.1 WHOV-FM. His interest in sports journalism began when he was 14 years old, therefore his journalism experience continued into high school. In addition to writing for the youth section of the IndyStar newspaper, Y-Press, Schiele also delivered live NFL scores on 106.7 WTLC-FM during his freshman and sophomore years.
Schiele covered varsity football games, anchoring his high school’s daily student-run program, and provided commentary for freshmen football games as a junior and senior. With a journalism major and a focus in African-American studies, Schiele received her degree from Georgia State University in December 2018. In addition, Schiele worked as the in-game anchor for Georgia State football on ESPN+ during his final semester in college. Furthermore, he was the official writer for ActionSportsandNews.com on the Atlanta Falcons. Over his first three years at Georgia State, he was the team captain, reporter, and anchor for the student-run sports program “PrimeTime Sportz.” As team leader, Schiele taught 10 student reporters how to use a camera, write for broadcast, and edit using Adobe Premiere Pro.
Additionally, Schiele covered the NFL Combine, the Atlanta Sports Awards, the College Football Awards, and all 15 Georgia State sports teams while working as a reporter. In 2017, the Southeastern Journalism Conference ranked him as the fifth-best television journalist. Also, Schiele was the head writer and editor for ProFootballSpot.com covering the Atlanta Falcons until he joined PrimeTime Sportz. With an average of 700 reads per piece throughout my stay, he was the most read Falcons writer, having written 79 articles. As editor, Schiele managed five other Falcons writers, teaching them proper AP-style writing.
