Andrea Lyon is an American anchor and reporter working for 10 Tampa Bay as an anchor and reporter. She joined the 10 Tampa Bay news team in July 2023, after previously working for KSTP-TV.
Lyon received a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies from St. Cloud State University. In her most recent role, Lyon covered the aftermath of several police homicide cases in Minneapolis-St. Paul, including the deaths of George Floyd, Daunte Wright, and Amir Locke. Her eight years in the Sunshine State, with stops in Fort Myers, Tampa, and Orlando, preceded her employment in the Twin Cities. In addition to winning regional Edward Murrow awards for investigative journalism while covering chronic recidivism, team coverage reporting for breaking news, and videography, she has been acknowledged as an award-winning journalist and named Florida’s best mobile journalist by the Associated Press during her time in Florida.
For a thorough investigation of the absence of regulations pertaining to sperm donation in the US, Lyon was nominated for an Emmy award in 2019. Locally, Xytex, an Atlanta sperm bank, changed its procedures to cap contributions for families utilizing its services in response to the medical study. She has assisted viewers in navigating hurricanes in the past, including Hurricane Irma’s extensive devastation as it ripped across the state back in 2017.
