Alina Machado is an American anchor and reporter working for WTVJ as a weekend co-anchor at 6 pm and 11 pm alongside Chris Hush. She also serves as a consumer investigative reporter and she joined the NBC6 news team in May 2016.
Before Machado joined the NBC6 investigative team as a consumer reporter, she worked for CNN where she served as a correspondent. Over the years, Alina has served as a reporter on a number of the largest national stories inclusive of; the George Zimmerman trial and his brushes with the law; the church massacre in Charleston, South Carolina; and the West Virginia chemical leak that tainted the water supply for hundreds of thousands of residents. In addition, Alina’s stories and live reports have appeared regularly on CNN International, CNN, and CNN en Español.
Furthermore, before Machado joined CNN, she worked at local TV stations in the county for ten years. While serving as a journalist, Alina has made stops in major cities such as Chicago and Atlanta. She has also worked for ABC 11 in Raleigh, North Carolina where she served as a general assignment reporter. In addition, while Machado worked for ABC 11, she covered; the 2011 deadly tornado outbreak, the John Edwards campaign finance fraud trial, and the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.
While Alina resided in Milwaukee, she worked for CBS 58/Telemundo Wisconsin as a bilingual anchor and reporter. In addition, during Machado’s college years, she made her on-air debut at WGEM-TV, which is the NBC affiliate in Quincy, Illinois. Alina attended Miami Coral Park Senior High School where she was a valedictorian. Later on, she joined Northwestern University where she studied at its Medill School of Journalism and graduated Magna Cum Laude, and she has both bachelor’s degree and a master’s.
