Adrienne Broaddus is an American Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter working for NBC as a correspondent. She joined the NBC news team in November 2023, after previously working for CNN.

Adrienne earned her Master’s degree in Journalism from Ball State University and a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University where she also worked for her college paper and interned at the Grand Rapids Press. Prior to joining NBC News, Broaddus worked as a CNN Correspondent primarily covering the Midwest. There, she covered a wide range of reports including mass casualties like the Uvalde massacre that left 19 students and two teachers dead and breaking news like the Highland Park, Illinois shooting. Some of her policing in America stories include the trial coverage of Derek Chauvin and Kim Potter, former Minnesota Police officers who were both convicted of killing unarmed Black men.
Before CNN, she spent almost seven years as a solo weekday anchor and reporter at KARE, in Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area, where she anchored KARE 11 News at 11 a.m. There, she covered important topics for KARE TV and TEGNA stations across the country, including the flooding that killed people in South Carolina and the shooting murder of Michael Brown, which sparked protests in Ferguson, Missouri. Following Philando Castile’s shooting by Minnesota police, she produced several exclusive reports.
In 2014, she was recognized as the Life Source Media Partner of the Year for her coverage of organ transplants. The following year, 2015, she received several awards and recognitions including the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association Eric Sevareid Award and NPPA Solo Video Journalist of the Year finalist, NABJ/Gannett Foundation Al Neuharth award. Her health report earned her Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Nominee and Society of Professional Journalists Page One Award recipient. She also received the Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Winner for Weekend Newscast: Missing Boy Found.
In 2016, she received the NABJ Salute to Excellence finalist for short-form feature reporting, the Society of Professional Journalists Page One Award recipient for Hard News, the RTDNA Kaleidoscope Award, and MADD Media Makes a Difference. She also earned the Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Nominee for Best Health Report and Solo Video Journalism. Broaddus won the National Association of Black Journalists Salute to Excellence for general assignment and short-form feature reporting and the Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Nominee for Best News Anchor in 2017. In 2018 she was the National Association of Black Journalists Salute to Excellence nominee for general assignment report x2 and winner for long-form feature reporting.
Broaddus also worked at WISH Indianapolis as a General Assignment reporter and at WNEM Saginaw, where she hosted “Better Mid-Michigan,” a nationally syndicated lifestyle and entertainment program. From 2004 to 2007 she worked as a reporter and anchor at WILX-TV and HOMTV, in Okemos, Michigan.
