Following her appearances on Today as a stand-in for Meredith Vieira and Ann Curry, Guthrie was officially announced on May 9, 2011, as the Chief Legal Editor of the program and co-host of the 9 a.m. hour with Natalie Morales and Al Roker. With Hoda Kotb, Guthrie took over as host on November 29, 2017, following the revelation of Matt Lauer’s long-standing history of sexually abusing and harassing young female coworkers. She spoke with then-President Donald Trump once more in 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, during his reelection campaign.
