Sage Steele Biography
Sage Steele is an American sports anchor and host who is currently working at ESPN. She serves as the co-host of SportsCenter which airs at 12 pm alongside Matt Barrie on ESPN. In addition, she joined the ESPN team in 2007 and served as a regular anchor of SportsCenter until 2013.

For two years, Sage attended Thomas B. Doherty High School. Later on, her family relocated to Carmel, Indiana where she attended Carmel High School for her senior year and graduated in 1990. After having completed high school, Steele joined Indiana University Bloomington where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sports communication.

Previously, she co-hosted ABC’s telecast of the Miss America pageant and has been a featured guest host on ABC’s The View. Furthermore, on Jimmy Kimmel Live she was once a guest prior to being profiled by Huffington Post, Vibe, Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, and many others. In addition, she was privileged to drive the pace car at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway in addition to the 2013 NASCAR Brickyard 400.
Her journalism career began in South Bend, Indiana at WSBT-TV as a producer and reporter from 1995 to 1997. Later on, she relocated to Indianapolis where she worked at WISH-TV as a reporter for the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. During her time at WISH, she covered the IndyCar Series and the 1997 NCAA Men’s Final Four.
She joined WFTS-TV in August 1998 and served as an anchor, reporter, and host. Furthermore, she became the anchor for the debut of Comcast SportsNet, serving the Washington DC/Baltimore region in April 2001. In addition, for six years, she anchored the flagship show SportsNite prior to being a reporter for the Baltimore Ravens from 2001-2005, hosting a magazine show for all five seasons.
In addition, she attended Indiana University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in sports communications in 1995. Additionally, she is a board member of the Pat Tillman Foundation and is passionate about working alongside military veterans. Prior to being named in 2019, to the board of the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

She is one of ESPN’s most popular and respected commentators. In addition to serving as the noon co-host, she is also a lead host for SportsCenter on the Road. Before that, Steele served as the host of ABC’s telecast of the Tournament of Roses Parade. Some of her roles as the lead for SportsCenter on the Road include; pre-event coverage for the biggest sports events of the year; the College Football National Championship, the Masters, the World Series, the Super Bowl, and the NBA Finals. Furthermore, in September 2016, she was named the host of SportsCenter on the Road.
In addition, she previously served as the anchor of the 6 p.m. ED edition for a number of years and before that, she served as the anchor of SportsCenter: AM. Furthermore, from 2013 through the 2016 to 2017 NBA season, she served as the host of NBA Countdown on ESPN and ABC.
Furthermore, Sage has also served as the host of the Scripps National Spelling Bee from 2010-2013. Prior to that, she was a contributor to First Take and Mike & Mike and a co-host of ESPN2’s SportsNation. Moreover, she was on ABC and ESPN’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve during the inaugural College Football Playoff she served as a host.
