Roz Varon Biography
Roz Varon is an American multiple Emmy award-winning anchors who is currently working at ABC 7 Chicago. At the station, she serves as the morning Traffic Anchor. In addition, she joined the ABC 7 News team as a morning traffic anchor in April 1989.
Varon has been privileged to multiple Awards in Spot News, Specialty Programming, Traffic Reporting, and Features. Additionally, she has been valued with a number of Peter Lisagor Awards, involving one for her ‘Weekender’series, a weekly roundup of metro Chicago events. Furthermore, she has won the Illinois Broadcasters Association’s Silver Dome Award for her breast cancer special, “Faces of Inspiration. Lately, Varon has produced “On the Road with Roz: Adventures in Travel and Life,” a thrilled and cheerful collection of images and words detailing her travels on Route 66 and around the world with her family.
Varon serves industriously to help heighten cancer prevention and awareness and is an in-demand motivational speaker because she is a breast cancer survivor. She participates much of her time in the Anti-Cruelty Society and PAWS Chicago, she works on the Board of Governors of the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and is currently a member of the Columbia Alumni Association & Network National Alumni Board (CAAN at Columbia College). Varon was awarded a B.A. in Broadcast Communications from Columbia College and lives in the western suburbs of Chicago with her husband, daughter, two dogs, and a cat.
