Phil Schwarz is an American Emmy Award-winning Meteorologist who is currently working at ABC7 Chicago. At the station, he serves as a Meteorologist for the weekend’s forecast at 5 and 10 p.m and also fills in during the week. In addition, Schwarz reports on environmental and weather-related stories, he has been working for the station since 1995.
Phil Schwarz Career
Schwarz started his career in his native home Flint, Michigan where he was the weekend Meteorologist at KSTP-TV, the ABC affiliate in the Twin Cities. Prior to he was the primary meteorologist at WNYW-TV in New York, New York, where he reported the weather for their 10 p.m newscast. Furthermore, during that season he occupied and operated a private weather forecasting service with several clients throughout the Midwest.
In 1983 Schwarz acquired his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Pennsylvania State. He holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal. He is also the board member of the Les Turner ALS Foundation, a charity that helps raise funds for those afflicted with ALS and the research being conducted at Northwestern University. Yearly Schwarz emcees the ALS Walk for Life, which is held in late September.
