Mark Sanchez Career

This fall, the ten-year NFL veteran—who is recognized for having guided the New York Jets to back-to-back AFC Championship Games in his first two professional seasons—begins his first season as an NFL game analyst. Sanchez was selected by the Jets with the fifth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He had an outstanding rookie season, making the 2009 NFL All-Rookie Team, winning his first three starts as a rookie quarterback, and only being the second to win his first two playoff games. Sanchez became just the second quarterback in history to win the conference championship in both of his rookie seasons.

He also set franchise records for the Jets in terms of most postseason wins by a quarterback (four), longest playoff touchdown pass (80; 2009), and most game-winning drives in a single season (six; 2010).
Prior to retiring in 2019, Sanchez played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Football Team following a season-ending injury in the 2013 preseason. After declaring his retirement, Sanchez moved straight from the field to one of ABC’s most coveted studio jobs, where he worked with Kevin Negandhi and Jonathan Vilma, who is currently an NFL analyst for FOX. Sanchez also contributed to “College Football Live,” “Get Up,” and “SportsCenter” during his two years at ABC/ESPN.

Sanchez had an incredible career as a quarterback for USC from 2005 to 2008. During his junior year, he led the Trojans to a Rose Bowl victory. They capped a 13-win campaign that saw USC finish third in the final AP Top 25 poll. He passed for 413 yards and four touchdowns in the New Year’s Day game, which helped him win Rose Bowl Offensive MVP in his last game. With 413 passing yards, Sanchez ranked fourth in USC history and second in Rose Bowl history. With 34 touchdowns—the second-most in school history—and 10 interceptions, he concluded the season with 3,207 yards passing. He was selected to the First Team All-Pac-10 in 2008.
