Lindsay Czarniak is an American Emmy Award-winning sports host, anchor, and sideline reporter working at CBS Sports. She serves as the co-host of CBS Sports HQ alongside Chris Hassel and Amanda Guerra. In addition, Czarniak joined the CBS Sports team in August 2026, after previously working at FOX Sports.
Lindsay Czarniak Education
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is Czarniak’s birth home, and she was later brought up in northern Virginia. As a young girl, she was always immersed in sports, and while in high school, she played lacrosse and field hockey. In addition, Lindsay went on to attend James Madison University, where she graduated in 2000 with a major in journalism and a minor in studio art.
While Czarniak was still in college, she took up her fist job in Washington at WUSA. Not long after, she shifted to CNN to work as a production assistant. In addition, Lindsay also worked at WAWS/WTEV-TV in Jacksonville, Florida, where she had her first on-air role as a news reporter. Later on, Czarniak joined WTVJ in Miami and FOX Sports’ Speed Channel as a reporter for the ARCA RACING SERIES pit.

While Czarniak worked at Fox Sports, she served as an NFL sideline reporter and studio host for NASCAR coverage. Prior to her time at Fox Sports, she worked at ESPN News for 6 years from 2011 to the year 2017. In addition, Lindsay has also previously worked at NBC News, and during her time there, she covered the Olympics a number of times. Furthermore, Czarniak covered the Paris Olympics for NBCUniversal stateside in 2024. Simultaneously, her husband, Craig Melvin, was covering the Paris Olympic Games for NBCUniversal.
During Czarniak’s time at FOX, she handled NFL game reporting duties alongside analyst Mark Schlereth and play-by-play announcer Adam Amin in 2020. In addition, Czarniak joined the FOX Sports team as a NASCAR studio host in 2019. During this time, she hosted the Thursday NASCAR RACE HUB shows and NASCAR RACE HUB: WEEKEND EDITION. Furthermore, Lindsay became the first woman host to cover the Indianapolis 500 on ABC. She has also served as the anchor of “Bleacher Report,” which is a sports segment on CNN. In August 2019, Czarniak took up the role of host on Netflix’s reality racing competition series, “Hyperdrive.” More to that, she owns her own podcast show titled “Players,” which focuses on country music artists and their sports interests.

Czarniak has also previously worked at WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., where she served as a sports anchor and reporter for a number of years. While she was at WRC-TV, she also hosted “Redskins Report,” “Sport Final,” and “The Coaches Show” with Mike Shanahan. In addition, Lindsay also served as the producer and host of a sports segment called “Lunch with Lindsay.” While on the segment, she had the opportunity to interview well-known politicians, athletes, and people in the entertainment world. Furthermore, while Czarniak began her career at WRC-TV, she co-hosted “The George Michael Sports Machine.” More to that, legendary sportscaster and racing enthusiast George Michael named her as a protégé, as he stated that she was his best hire.
For her outstanding work at WRC, she earned an Emmy Award. In addition, she also received a call from NBC requesting her to serve as a pit reporter for NBC Sports’ NASCAR coverage. The event will be happening on September 13th and 14th of 2026, in Fairfield County. This fundraiser is done in honor of Melvin’s brother, Lawrence Meadows, who died from colorectal cancer at age 43.
