Kirk Yuhnke is an American Emmy-Award Winning anchor working for FOX31 as a weekday morning News anchor. He joined the FOX31 news team in April 2013, after previously working for ABC15 News.

Yuhnke is a proud graduate of the Kent State University School of Journalism and Mass Communications, holding a degree in broadcast news. During his college years, he actively pursued the latest stories, anchored student newscasts, and showcased his skills as a “DJ” on the college radio station. His professional journey began in Michigan, where he worked in Lansing and Flint as an anchor and reporter. Later, he transitioned to Salt Lake City, taking on the role of a morning anchor/reporter.
After three years, he traded the snowy slopes for sunny weather and moved to Phoenix to anchor the morning news. However, a few years under the scorching sun convinced Yuhnke and his family to seek the return of four distinct seasons. Throughout his 15-year career, he has covered numerous news stories, with standout moments including the 2003 blackout in the Northeast, the rescue of six miners trapped in a Utah mine, and his coverage of Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast. He has received several awards for his work, including an Emmy for anchoring breaking news coverage in 2009 and an Emmy nomination for best anchor in Denver in 2012.
Beyond his role as a news anchor, he is a self-professed technology geek, always exploring the latest gadgets, websites, and apps. He shares his tech expertise through his daily “Tech Junkie” segment on FOX31 Morning News. Actively involved in the community, he has a personal connection to causes like the American Heart Association and Children’s hospitals. His daughter’s congenital heart defect in 2010 led him to appreciate the efforts of doctors and nurses at the Children’s Hospital in Phoenix. He is passionate about raising awareness for congenital heart defects.
