Jorge Estevez Biography
Jorge Estevez is an American anchor working for WSB-TV as an anchor at 5 pm and 11 pm alongside Wendy Corona. He joined the WSB-TV team in January 2020, after previously working for WFTV.
Estevez has served as a journalist for over 20 years and he is happy to tell the stories that impact the people of North Georgia. He joined the WFTV team in 2001, and while he worked in Orlando he reported on NASA’s Shuttle Columbia Disaster, covered the effects of 9/11 on Central Florida tourism, and was in the elements for the severe hurricane season of 2004 when a number of back-to-back storms impacted the Orlando area. In addition, Jorge covered the disaster left behind on the island of Puerto Rico in 2017 by Hurricane Maria.
However, the most impactful moment that he covered was the June 2016 mass shooting at Pulse nightclub where 49 people lost their lives. He then briefly worked at the CBS station, WFOR, in Miami, and while he was at the station, he did a special report on traffic patterns in South Florida that won him an Emmy award. In addition, Estevez secured his first broadcasting job at News 12 The Bronx where he served as a reporter, and in less than a year, he was promoted to being a morning anchor.
Jorge will remember his time in New York City for his Emmy-nominated story of a 12-year-old boy-turned-author after his battle with bone marrow cancer. West New York, New Jersey is his native home and he attended Rutgers University where he graduated with a dual degree in journalism and communication. During his spare time, he enjoys watching movies, running miles on the pavement, and spinning his wheels in a cycle class.
