Jason Riley is an American anchor, conservative commentator and author working for FOX NEWS as a contributor. He joined the FOX NEWS news team after previously working for Journal Editorial Report.
Riley obtained a bachelor’s degree in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo and embarked on a journalism career, initially working for the Buffalo News and USA Today. He joined The Wall Street Journal in 1994 as a copyreader on the national news desk in New York City. By April 1996, he assumed the newly created role of editorial interactive editor. Later, he became a part of the editorial board in 2005. He has authored five books, including “Let Them In: The Case for Open Borders” in 2008, advocating for a more free-market-oriented U.S. immigration system. In 2014, he published “Please Stop Helping Us: How Liberals Make It Harder for Blacks to Succeed,” earning praise from Thomas Sowell in National Review.
His 2017 book, “False Black Power?,” posits that economic success holds greater significance for empowering black individuals than reliance on political leadership. In 2021, Riley released “Maverick: A Biography of Thomas Sowell.” is a member of The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board and serves as a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute. Recognized for his insights, he has made appearances on various news programs, including the Journal Editorial Report, other Fox News programs, and C-SPAN. Notably, Riley, who is Black, offers a conservative perspective in his writings, sharing his experiences and viewpoints on the Black experience in America.
