Janessa Webb Biography

Janessa Webb is an American meteorologist working at DC News Now where she serves as the chief meteorologist and she can be seen on weekdays at 6, 7, 9, and 10 p.m alongside anchor Tasmin Mahfuz, anchor Chris Flanagan, and sports director Derek Forrest. 

Prior to joining the DC News Now team, she worked at NBC News/MSNBC where she served as a meteorologist/severe weather reporter for three years. While she worked at NBC News/MSNBC, she gave daily weather forecasts and live hurricane coverage on numerous shows from the 11th Hour with Brian Williams,  Today Show, Early Today, Morning Joe, and Weekend Today. She has also worked in the Midwest at WEWS in Cleveland, Ohio where she served as a meteorologist/helicopter traffic reporter.

In addition, she started her career at Anchorage where she worked for KTVA and KYUR and served as a master control agent, sports anchor, and meteorologist for 8 years. Webb attended East Anchorage High School where she graduated proudly and later joined Winston Salem State. Furthermore, she is a successful meteorologist who is certified by the National Weather Service as a Certified Storm Chaser. She is also a member of the American Meteorological Society, the National Weather Association, and the National Association of Black Journalists. Webb has also served as a mentor to upcoming journalists throughout her career and strongly believes in giving back to the community. During her downtime, she enjoys ultra-marathons, skydiving, and hiking mountains.
