Chris Flanagan is an American anchor working at DC News Now where he serves as the co-anchors of the nightly newscasts with Tasmin Mahfuz, Chief Meteorologist Janessa Webb, and Sports Director Derek Forrest. He joined DC News Now in May 2022 after previously working at WFXT where he served as an anchor and reporter.
Over the years, he has worked in Upstate New York, Cleveland, San Francisco, Hartford, Indianapolis, Vermont, Dallas, and Des Moines. While Flanagan worked in Boston, he served as as a weekend anchor and 4 pm anchor and reporter. He reported on numerous of New England’s biggest and most impactful stories such as the ‘Varsity Blues’ College Admissions Cheating Scandal. In addition, he also anchored the station’s daily coverage of the Covid-19 governor’s briefings. Flanagan is also passionate about politics and he has reported from the Republican National Conventions, the New Hampshire Primary, the Iowa Caucus, and the Democratic.
Furthermore, he has also co-hosted live Democratic and Republican Presidential debate specials and the Iowa gubernatorial debate. He also reported from Cleveland when three women, who were kidnapped and missing for ten years, escaped their captor and he was on the air in 2009 during the mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas. In addition, he started his career in sports, and over the years, he has covered; the NCAA Basketball Final Four, a Super Bowl, Winter Olympics, NBA Finals, a number of World Series, and the Indianapolis 500.
In addition, he is passionate about being involved in a number of charities throughout his career, including; Variety The Children’s Charity, the Jimmy Fund, and Boston Cares. Connecticut is his native home and he attended Southern Connecticut State University and Colorado State University where he graduated proudly.
