Geoff Schwartz is an American football offensive guard in the NFL, television host, and author working for FOX Sports as a sports betting and NFL analyst. He joined the FOX Sports team in December 2020.

Schwartz started playing football at the age of thirteen. First of all, he weighed too much to be eligible for the local youth program. Second, his parents preferred that he devote his time to preparing for his Bar Mitzvah. Schwartz attended Palisades Charter High School. He started as the team’s center for basketball there. In baseball, he was an All-League pitcher with fast throws, topping 80 mph. In his final two years as a pitcher, he had a 13–6 record, a 1.30 ERA, four saves, and 130 strikeouts.
He also participated in football for his high school team, playing both offensive and defensive line duties. In terms of defense, he played nose guard, defensive end, and defensive tackle. On offense, he played guard and tackle. First-team All-City and All-Westside by the L.A. Times; ranked as the fifth-best offensive line recruit in California by Tom Lemming; included in Super Prep’s top 75 prep prospects; ranked 36th on Rivals.com’s list of the country’s top offensive tackle prospects; and named one of the Tacoma News Tribune’s Western One-hundred picks.
Schwartz attended the University of Oregon to play collegiate football. Political science was his major. Schwartz played in 41 games (36 starts) as a right tackle during his three years as a starter. At 505 pounds (229 kg), he set the team record for the squat strength training exercise. Schwartz started all 12 games as a sophomore in 2005 and gave up just three sacks. As a junior in 2006, he made 11 starts in 12 games. As a senior in 2007, Schwartz started all 13 games and contributed to the team’s second-consecutive Pac-10 rushing championship. He was chosen for the 2007 All-Pac-10 second team. With three yards gained, Schwartz now holds the Pac-10 record for right tackle rushing.
The Panthers chose Schwartz in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He waived in the final training camp roster cut and ended up on the Panthers practice squad that season. Schwartz participated in all 16 games in 2009, starting three at right tackle. He played 1,016 snaps and started all 16 games in 2010 (the final 11 at right guard, the first five at right tackle). Schwartz returned to starting at right guard in 2011, but during practice, he sustained a right hip impingement—a bone spur in his femur that tore his hip cartilage—injury. He underwent hip surgery in September 2011 after spending the season on the injured reserve list.

Schwartz inked a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings on March 21, 2012. In 2012, he was a part of the team’s right guard unit for portions of 13 games, and he assisted running back Adrian Peterson in rushing for 2,097 yards—just 9 yards short of the NFL single-season record. On March 15, 2013, Schwartz signed a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. With incentives, his one-year contract could have been worth up to $1.2 million. It was anticipated that Schwartz would compete with Jeff Allen and Jon Asamoah for playing time at guard, or with Donald Stephenson for the starting job at right tackle.
Geoff played against Mitchell, his brother, for the first time on October 27. He participated in all 16 games for the Chiefs, starting seven of them, and later in the season, he moved into the starting lineup at right guard. With 549 snaps, he earned the highest grade of any Chiefs offensive lineman—plus-18.6—and was ranked as the best free-agent guard by Pro Football Focus. Schwartz and the New York Giants agreed to a four-year, $16.8 million contract on March 12, 2014, with a $6.2 million guarantee. According to ESPN, he was expected to start for the Giants at left or right guard.
He was ranked as the top free-agent guard by Rotoworld and PFF. After suffering a broken toe in the Giants’ third preseason game against the New York Jets, Schwartz missed the first eleven weeks of the regular season. He made his debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Dallas Cowboys following his return. He broke his ankle in the Jaguars game, meaning he would miss the remainder of the season. Schwartz suffered a broken left leg in the Week 12 loss against the Washington Redskins on November 29, 2015. He started 11 games at guard for the Giants in 2015 before suffering an injury that kept him out of the final five games. Schwartz was placed on season-ending injured reserve on December 1, 2015.
The Giants released Schwartz on February 10, 2016. Schwartz inked a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions on March 30, 2016. On August 29, 2016, Schwartz was released by the Lions. Schwartz declared his NFL retirement on February 21, 2017. In July 2020, Schwartz launched a brand-new NFL-focused podcast called Minus Three with Shek and Schwartz, featuring former NFL Network personality Dave Dameshek. Sal Iacono founded Extra Points, a new sports gambling media company that includes the podcast. Fox Sports Radio announced on December 3, 2020, that Schwartz had been hired on as a full-time weekend show host. Prior to that, he had filled in for Clay Travis and others on occasion.
