Frank Vascellaro Biography
Frank Vascellaro is an American anchor working for WCCO-TV as the weekday evening co-anchor of the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m newscast alongside Amelia Santaniello.
Vascellaro and Amelia became the first married couple to co-anchor a daily news program in the Twin Cities on June 29, 2006. Since 1996, Vascellaro has served as an anchor in the Twin Cities, and prior to relocating to Minnesota, he worked at WHOI-TV in Peoria, Illinois, and WAND-TV in Decatur, Illinois where he served as an anchor and reporter.
Frank was brought up in Denver, Colorado and he attended the United States Air Force Academy before he transferred to the University of Colorado at Boulder. Vascellaro attended Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois where he studied broadcasting. In 2008, Frank was awarded by The Society of Professional Journalists with its broadcast award for Investigative Reporting.
Furthermore, he received a Regional Emmy award in 2011 and 2012 for Best Anchor. Together with her wife, they are heavily involved in the community and they often serve as the master of ceremonies at a number of charity events in the Twin Cities premier.
