Amelia Santaniello is an American anchor working for WCCO-TV as the weekday evening co-anchor at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m alongside Frank Vascellar. Santaniello joined WCCO-TV in 1996.
Santaniello was born in Alexandria, Virginia and she was brought up in a military family. Her family has resided in Texas, Japan, and Virginia, and she attended Marywood University in Dunmore, Pennsylvania.
Santaniello co-anchors alongside her husband, Frank Vascellaro, thus they are the first married couple to co-anchor a news program in the Twin Cities. Prior to working in Minnesota, Amelia worked at Hartford, Connecticut where she worked for WTIC-TV as a weekend news anchor. In addition, Santaniello worked at WUSA in Washington, D.C. as a reporter trainee.
Later on, Amelia worked in Elmira, New York at WETM-TV where she served as a weekend anchor before later joining WNEP-TV in Scranton/Wilkes where she was an anchor and reporter. She was named Best Newscaster in the Twin Cities by City Pages editors in 2000 and 2013. Furthermore, she was selected as the favorite local female television personality by Readers of The Minnesota Women’s Press. Furthermore, Amelia and her husband are heavily involved in the community and they often serve as the master of ceremonies at some of the Twin Cities premier charity events.
