Ellen McNamara is an American regional Emmy award-winning anchor who is currently working at FOX 10. She serves as the co-anchor of FOX 10 Xtra News alongside Marc Martinez which airs at 7 p.m. and FOX 10 News at 10 p.m. on weeknights. In addition, she joined the Fox10 news team in 2021.
She has received a regional Emmy award and regional Edward R. Murrow for her outstanding work as a journalist. For seventeen years, she worked in local television news. Previously, she worked at the CBS affiliate in Kansas City where she served as the evening anchor. Furthermore, she has also served as a journalist in Lubbock, Austin, Tampa, and Minneapolis.
Chicago is her birth home but later she was brought up in Boulder, Colorado, and Dallas, Texas. She attended Texas Tech University where she graduated summa cum laude with a degree in political science and a minor in Spanish. While she was in college, she played soccer in the Big 12.
Furthermore, she later interned at the CBS affiliate in Lubbock, Texas and this was where she fell in love with the business herself. Additionally, she is an avid runner and has completed a number of marathons, inclusive of five consecutive Boston Marathons. She completed 30 minutes before the bombs went off at the finish line at the marathon in 2013, and went back to running in 2014.
