Brian Loftus Biography
Brian Loftus is an American Emmy award-winning anchor who is currently working at KLAS-TV. He serves as the evening co-anchor of the 5, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts alongside Denise Valdez. In addition, he joined the 8 News Now team as a morning traffic anchor in 2009, and later in 2014, he was promoted to Morning Anchor of Good Day and as Evening Anchor in early 2018.
Chicago is Brian’s native home and he attended Lyons Township High School later he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Iowa. He also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Loyola Marymount University. He began his broadcasting career at t KLSX (97.1 FM Talk) in Los Angeles as a producer/writer in 2002. He also served as one of the on-air personalities of, The Film Freak Show. In addition, he also worked at KMPH-TV (FOX) in Fresno in 2007, as a Feature Reporter and covered every live shot imaginable on the popular, five-hour morning show called Great Day.
While working at KLAS-TV, he has served as the anchor of What’s Driving You Crazy, where he assisted in solving traffic problems troubling viewers from 2009 to 2014. Later on, he brought, What’s Cool at School which was a weekly segment that highlights positive programs in local schools. In 2017, he won the NASB Media Award for Outstanding Education Reporting. For four years, he has been serving as the host and anchor of the New Year’s Eve Countdown Show from the Las Vegas Strip, which was seen live in 12 cities.
Furthermore, over the years, he has interviewed everyone from local leaders such as; Sheriff Joe Lombardo and Mayor Carolyn Goodman to comedians and performers. He has also interviewed musicians such as Guns N’ Roses, and Rascal Flatts and covered the Golden Knights from Washington D.C. in the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. During his downtime, he enjoys reading, swimming, hiking, and biking, and is an avid fan of Bears, the Chicago Cubs, and Bruce Springsteen.
