Denise Valdez Biography
Denise Valdez is an American four-time Emmy award-winning anchor who is currently working at KLAS-TV. She has been serving as the evening news co-anchor at 5, 6, and 11 pm since April 2016. In addition, she joined the KLAS-TV news team in January 2006, as the anchor of the noon and 4 pm newscast.
Over the years, she has anchored extensive live coverage of many major events such as nurturing a sense of trust, credibility among viewers, confidence, Southern Nevada. Valdez has been among the Emmy award-winning team for Best Breaking News Coverage, Best Coverage of a Special Event, and Best Morning Newscast. She has earned an Emmy for Best Anchor in the Pacific Southwest Region in 2009 and 2014, in addition to being honored with her first Emmy in 2007, for an Educational series called Cool at School.
In 2015, she was selected by the Vegas Seven as the Best Anchor and was honored for her twenty years of journalism excellence by the Nevada Broadcasting Association honored through being inducted into its ‘Hall of Fame’ in 2013. In addition, Valdez has been the anchor of KLAS’; Las Vegas strip pedestrian crash, Funerals of Metro Officers Henry Prendes, marathon coverage of the 1 October Shooting, Presidential visits, and many others. Furthermore, she lead a team of journalists in June of 2018 and in November 2016 to moderate the Nevada Democratic Gubernatorial debate and the United States Senate debate respectively. Denise covered the worst mass shooting in American history in October 2017, whereby 58 people lost their lives, and also anchored extensive coverage of the devastating fire that charred 28 thousand acres in July 2013. In December 2008, she covered the Las Vegas strip snow fall.
Denise attended Granada Hills High School where she proudly graduated. Later on, she joined Pepperdine University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism.
