Bobby Deskins Biography
Bobby Deskins is an American meteorologist working for 10 Tampa Bay as a Chief Meteorologist. He joined the 10 Tampa Bay news team in January 2009, after previously working for WCTI TV12.
Deskins received a Bachelor’s in Geoscience and a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. When Deskins was a Wilmington, North Carolina intern at WWAY TV3, he began forecasting. He began working in the mornings at WCTI TV12 in New Bern, North Carolina. In January 2009, Deskins moved to Tampa and began appearing on The Morning Show Monday through Friday on WTSP. Throughout his career, he has predicted every kind of weather, including hurricanes, severe storms, and snowstorms.
Deskins is a member at large of the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) West Central Florida branch and has also obtained the CBM certification from the AMS. He won a national Weather Central award for Best Video in addition to an AP award for Best Weathercast. Furthermore, he is a member of the National Weather Association and visits many area schools each year. Deskins enjoys being in the water, snowboarding, scuba diving, spearfishing, and surfing in his own time. He also loves watching the storms intensify every day, thus summer storms are his favorites. In addition, Deskins attends as many Bucs games as he can because he is an avid supporter of the Rays and Lightning.
