Melugin is a proud graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, where he majored in Broadcast Journalism. He covered the Robb Elementary School mass shooting, which claimed the lives of 19 children and 2 adults, living in Uvalde, Texas. Furthermore, he has been reporting from the Rio Grande, where he has seen an increase in the number of migrants entering the country from the south. He provided information about Texas National Guardsman Bishop Evans’ drowning in the Río Grande in April 2022. Melugin shared numerous hours of drone and helicopter footage of hundreds of migrants crossing the southern border in Del Rio, Texas, in September 2021.
Melugin worked as an investigative reporter for KTTV-TV Los Angeles before joining FNC. During his four years there, he won three local Emmy awards for investigative reporting. In this role, he contributed to the breaking of several stories, including the one about California Governor Gavin Newsom’s noncompliance with COVID-19 regulations when dining at the French Laundry. His breaking news reporting while at KTTV was also featured on Tucker Carlson Tonight, The Ingraham Angle, and The Story, among other FNC shows.
Melugin was an investigative reporter and anchor at WJYZ-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as a stand-in anchor at KFOX-TV in El Paso, Texas, before coming to work at FNC. In addition to winning three local Emmy awards for his investigative reporting in Los Angeles and three regional Edward R. Murrow awards for hard news and breaking news reporting, Melugin is the two-time winner of the Radio & TV News Association of Southern California’s Golden Mike Award for Best Investigative Journalism.
