Anne Drewa Biography
Anne Drewa is an American anchor and reporter working for Global News as a consumer affairs reporter and consumer matters host. She joined the Global News team in March 2005, after previously working for CTV Atlantic.
Drewa studied Broadcast Journalism at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She also received her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from The University of British Columbia. Her accomplishments include two national scholarships from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTNDA). In addition, Anne was recognized with a Jack Webster Award for Best News Reporting of the Year 2010 for her collaborative coverage of the “Boulder Mountain Avalanche.” Anne moved to Red Deer, Alberta, to further her journalism career after leaving British Columbia. She then worked for ATV (CTV) in Halifax for the following five years.
At the Atlantic Journalism Awards, she received a silver medal for “Best New Journalist.” She not only anchors the early morning news, but she also reports. In addition, Anne was the presenter of CTV’s national weekend breakfast show, Good Morning Canada. Reporting on Hurricane Juan and covering 9/11, when several planes were diverted to Halifax International Airport and the city cared for thousands of stranded passengers, were two of Anne’s most unforgettable experiences. However, Anne missed her beloved West Coast and moved back five years later. Now, she works for the station she grew up watching, Global BC and loves being back on the North Shore.
