Achumba received her bachelor of arts in broadcast journalism and mass communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Along with serving as a media consultant for the non-governmental organization Fight Against Desert Encroachment (FADE), she worked as a freelance field producer on news editorial projects for global news organizations like Reuters, Al Jazeera, France 24, and France 5 TV. The latter resulted in participation in a road trip spanning many nations to the edge of the Sahara Desert, traveling from Lagos to Senegal. a journey that included her camping in Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Mali’s vast savannah. Additionally, Adaure founded a portfolio firm that at the time offered editorial services, logistical support, technical solutions, and assistance to foreign reporters and television crews traveling to the West African region to work on reporting assignments.
