Virginia Cha Biography
Virginia Cha is a Korean-American three-time Emmy award-winning anchor who is currently working at ABC 10 where she serves as a morning news anchor. Prior to joining ABC 10 in Sandiego, she worked at HLN based in Atlanta, and as an NBC News correspondent based in New York.
Not long ago, she worked at CNN.comLIVE and CNN/HLN in Atlanta and while she worked ther, she brought viewers news on everything from the 2008 elections to Hurricane Katrina to the takedown of Osama bin Laden and the death of Michael Jackson. She has also worked at NBC News based in New York, Virginia where she served as a correspondent and while she was ther her most memorable coverage was of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. In addition, she was at ground zero during the North Tower collapse and she preceded to report on the emotional recovery efforts. Furthermore, she was present during the Florida hotly contested presidential election.
Over the years, she has covered numerous breaking news stories ranging from the return of the China Spy Plane crew to earthquake devastation in El Salvador and the Quecreek Mine rescue. Her reports have appeared the Today Show, Nightly News, MSNBC, and Weekend Today where she served as a fill-in anchor. In addition, she has been privileged to interview everyone from government leaders including Sen. Ted Kennedy and President Bill Clinton to newsmakers including; Michael Lewis, Walter Cronkite, Spike Lee, Stephen Hawking, and Michael Lewis.
Furthermore, while she worked in Hartford and Boston, she earned many local and regionalthe awards such as multiple Emmy awards for anchoring and Edward R. Murrow award for team political coverage. Cha has bad experience in a variety of formats from traditional anchoring to live shows from the field to a morning news program to in-depth medical reporting. In addition, she is also actively involved in the community and in many charity organizations such as First Night Boston, Rosie’s Place, and the Boys and Girls Club. Virginia attended Princeton University in addition to her being a Fulbright Scholar.
