Vanessa Paz is an American traffic anchor and reporter working at ABC 10 where she serves as a weekday morning traffic anchor and reporter and fill-in anchor. In addition, she joined the ABC 10 San Diego team in January 2020.
Chula Vista is her native home and she is a Hilltop High alum. She attended California State University, Los Angeles where she graduated with a bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism and as of the moment, she is completing her degree in meteorology at Mississippi State University. Prior to relocating to San Diego, she worked for almost ten years in the Pacific Northwest at stations stretching from Oregon to Eugene to Portland. Not long ago, she worked at Portland’s NBC affiliate, KGW News where she served as a weekend weather anchor and morning traffic reporter.
While she worked at KGW, she covered everything from the Cascades to the Coast to major crashes and closures. She also worked at Portland’s Fox affiliate, KPTV before she joined KGW, and while she was at KPTV, she served as a nightside reporter. In addition, she covered the Portland metro area and its neighborhoods. Paz also reported on a wide range of topics including the Moda Center, national guests including politician Bernie Sanders’ visit, and community-wide issues and protests.
Furthermore, she began her career in Eugene, Oregon where she worked at KMTR and KVAL. While she worked in Eugene, she was able to learn all newsroom duties while she served as a weather reporter, editor, producer, writer, and filling-in anchor. During her leisure time, she enjoys yoga workouts, running outdoors, and heated sculpting.
