Tyler Lopez is an American Emmy-Award Winning anchor working for WEEK 25 as a weekday afternoon anchor and co-anchors 25News at 5, 6, and 10 pm alongside Amber Krycka. He joined the WEEK 25 news team in July 2015, after previously working for KMGH-TV.
Lopez graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Long Beach State in Southern California. Over the last decade, he has been a fill-in anchor and reporter for the daily morning newscast on KMGH-TV, Denver’s ABC affiliate. Prior to that, he held the position of news anchor at NBC affiliate KOAA in Colorado Springs and served as a reporter and anchor at KDVR, the Fox affiliate in Denver. With more than 20 years of experience in anchoring, reporting, and producing local broadcast news, he brings a wealth of expertise to his role.
He takes over from McIntyre, who retired earlier this year following an impressive 42-year tenure with the station. Moreover, he is functionally bilingual in Spanish and dedicated several years to serving on the Board of Directors with Ralston House, a Colorado child advocacy center that significantly expanded its impact during his tenure, reaching three times as many individuals. Additionally, he attributes the success of those years to the collaboration with talented colleagues, and together, they achieved the honor of winning four Emmy awards in Colorado.
Having transitioned to the River City region, he has seamlessly adapted to the vibrant and active lifestyle here. During his leisure time, he has a keen interest in college and professional basketball and football. Additionally, he finds enjoyment in activities such as hiking.
