Trey Fulbright Biography
Trey Fulbright is an American meteorologist working at KCCI-TV where he serves as a weekday and weekend meteorologist. He joined KCCI-TV in April 2021.
Dallas, Texas is his native home and he spent the better part of his childhood in Tennessee and Texas. Since his childhood days, he has always been fascinated by the weather however, the 2008 Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak in the Mid-South was the major contributor to him becoming a meteorologist. While he was in grade school and throughout high school, he continued to pursue his passion for meteorology by attending local weather programs put on by local broadcast meteorologists and National Weather Service Storm Spotter Training. He graduated from Fort Worth Christian High School and later in 2018, he joined Iowa State University where he studied meteorology.
In addition, while he was at Iowa State University, he was involved in; the Central Iowa chapter of the National Weather Association, President Wendy Wintersteen’s freshman leadership class, and the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Student Chapter. Fulbright was also involved in and became a producer for, Cy’s Eyes on the Skies which is a weather broadcast led by Iowa State students interested in broadcast meteorology. Furthermore, during the summer after his freshman year, Trey volunteered at the National and Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas, where he helped with; tornado damage surveys, weather balloon launches, and completed two research projects on tornado climatology and the Texas dry line.
Trey was selected to be in a research program at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire during the summer after his junior year. During the 2022 Student American Meteorological Society Conference in Houston, Texas, he did a presentation of his research and was awarded an outstanding poster award. In May 2022, he earned a major in meteorology and a minor in journalism from Iowa State University
Fulbright graduated from Iowa State University in May 2022 with a major in meteorology and a minor in journalism. During his free time, he enjoys spending ample time with his family and friends, listening to smooth jazz, cooking, volunteering at his church, hiking, fishing, and playing frisbee golf.
