Travis Michels is an American meteorologist working for FOX31 as a weekend morning meteorologist. He joined the FOX31 news team in November 2022, after previously working for ABC 8NEWS.
Travis earned his degree in Meteorology from the California University of Pennsylvania. His journalism career began in 2009 at 47 ABC (WMDT) working as a weekend and filling in meteorologist. He then relocated to Rock Island, Illinois to be the Morning Meteorologist for CBS 4 (WHBF). Travis then returned to his home market at 47 ABC (WMDT) and worked as a Chief Meteorologist. He then joined 8News (WRIC) in Richmond, VA in 2017, where he was the weekend meteorologist. He joined FOX31 KDVR / Channel 2 KWGN, in Denver, Colorado in November 2021 as a weekend meteorologist before his current position as a morning on daybreak meteorologist.
Travis experienced his fair share of harsh weather, cold, snowy winters, and even significant flooding along the Mississippi River while he was living in the Midwest. Major hurricanes, numerous severe storms, numerous tornadoes (including a major outbreak), and a few severe snowstorms are among his most memorable East Coast weather occurrences. During his spare time, Travis enjoys the outdoors by training for triathlons, mountain biking, hiking, and reading a good book.
