Travis Herzog Biography
Travis Herzog is an American meteorologist who is currently working at ABC13. He has been serving as the chief meteorologist since he joined the station in July 2006. In addition, he can be seen broadcasting weather news on Eyewitness News at 5, 6, and 10 pm from Monday-Friday.
He has covered every kind of weather hazard from hurricanes and tornadoes to ice storms and floods in southeast Texas. His agenda is to present the public with weather forecasts that are educational, informative, and fun. On a number of occasions, he gives weather safety talks at local schools to help bring down storm anxiety and empower students to make wise choices during dangerous weather
Furthermore, after Hurricane Gilbert spawned a tornado that passed by his childhood home in San Antonio, Texas he gained interest in weather. In addition, he attended Texas A&M University where he graduated with a B.S. in Meteorology and a perfect 4.0 GPR. He is also a member of the National Weather Association, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Beta Kappa, and the American Meteorological Society.
Before he joined the KTRK news team, he previously worked at KBTX-TV where he served as a morning meteorologist. During his sparer time, he enjoys spending ample time with his family, tracking cold fronts, reading, racquetball, and serving at his local church.
