Tracy Smith Biography
Tracy Smith is an American correspondent working for CBS News as the CBS News Sunday Morning and 48 Hours show correspondent. She joined the CBS News team in December 2001.

Smith attended Boston University where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990. Later on, she joined the University of Southern California where she earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism in 1993.

Later in 2000, Smith joined CBS News as a national correspondent for “The Early Show.” She also served as the co-anchor of the “Saturday Early Show” in addition to reporting on a number of topics for the “CBS Evening News.” Before joining CBS News, she worked for Channel One News where she served as an anchor and reporter. While working at the station, she did a series of reports on teens in abusive relations that earned her a Golden Hugo from The Chicago International Film Festival.
While Tracy worked at Channel One News, she reported on; the civil war in Southern Sudan, the rise of neo-Nazis in Germany, the war in Chechnya, the long-ranging effects of Chernobyl, Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination in Israel, and the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda. In addition, She also worked for the CBS affiliate in Bakersfield, California, KERO-TV where she served as a part-time reporter.
Over the years, Smith has been awarded a number of awards including; a Golden Hugo from The Chicago International Film Festival, four Association of Women in Television Gracie Allen awards, a Wilbur Award from the Religion Communicators Council, a Gold World Medal from the New York Festivals, and seven National Educational Media Network Awards. In addition, she has also earned four Daytime Emmy Awards as part of the “CBS Sunday Morning” team named Outstanding Morning Program.
