Tony Aiello is an American reporter working for CBS2 as a general assignment reporter focusing on covering news and breaking stories in the Northern Suburbs. He joined the CBS2 news team in October 2002, after previously working for WTVF-TV.

Over the years, Aiello has received nominations and been awarded many professional honors such as the 2020 New York Emmy Award which he received for General Assignment Reporting. He has also traveled extensively while serving as a reporter. Tony traveled to Rome in 2013, where he broadcast live from St. Peter’s Square after the election of Pope Francis. In addition, after the terror attacks of November 2015, Aiello flew to Paris where he covered the station’s coverage.

Prior to joining WCBS in October 2002, Tony worked at WNBC-TV where he worked for almost five years while serving as a reporter. He has also worked for Dow Jones Television as a national correspondent and on the top syndicated business show, “The Wall Street Journal Report.” In addition, Tony has also served as an anchor and reporter at stations in Greenville, South Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Together with his wife, they were among the people in the plane that diverted to Gander, Newfoundland on September 11, 2001. The story was told on Come From Away, which is a Broadway show.

Furthermore, Aiello is an active person when it comes to community groups and Italian-American charities such as; the Italian-American Forum of Westchester County. Tony is a trustee of ArtsWestchester which presented him with its “Voice of the Arts Award” not long ago. He was also a board secretary of the Westchester Philharmonic. In addition, Tony is happy to represent WCBS at numerous community events and assist in raising funds and awareness for groups such as; the March of Dimes, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence.

He was requested to lead Westchester County’s official ceremony in 2002 thus marking the first anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. In addition, Tonny delivered keynote speeches for groups such as; the National Parks Service, the Sons of Italy, and the Enrico Fermi Scholarship Foundation. Furthermore, Aiello is a huge and longtime supporter of The Christophers and he is a presenter at their awards ceremony honoring media that “uplift the human spirit.” Tony attended Indiana University where he graduated in 1985, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in telecommunications.
