Butler was brought up in Seattle and since his childhood days, he has set his mind on becoming a journalist in the future, He attended Washington State University where he studied in the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication. Together with his wife, they have resided all over the country from New York to Washington to Nevada and not long they relocated their young daughters from Tennessee to Minnesota.
