Todd Strain Biography
Todd Strain is an American reporter working for NBC7 San Diego as a Sports reporter, anchor and producer of the half-hour Down to Earth specials. He joined the NBC7 news team in 2011, after previously working for KGET (NBC Bakersfield).
Strain graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He also has a San Diego State University Digital Media Marketing Professional Certificate, in progress. He began his professional career as a Production Assistant at ABC Sports in 1995. Here, he assisted in the production of various ABC televised sporting events. Some of his duties included research, generating graphics and statistics, coordinating interviews, and aiding in the complete production of each sporting event. In June 1996 he became a sports producer and reporter at KEYT Channel 3.
He created Public Relations opportunities involving the sports department and the local community in order to increase media exposure for venues and provide the community with information about upcoming events. With the team, he produced on-air reporting as well as filled-in anchoring. Later on, he joined the KTVL Channel 10 (CBS Affiliate) in June 1999 as a sports director and anchor. Additionally, he managed the sports department before moving to KGET (NBC Bakersfield) as a sports director.
He was with the team for ten consecutive years managing website content and consistently increasing page views and website users among other duties. Later on, he joined KNSD (NBC San Diego) in 2011 where he hosted one-on-one interviews with Olympians, Chargers, Padre, and San Diego State players and coaches.
