Tim Blotz Biography
Tim Blotz is an American five-time Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter working for FOX 9. He serves as a primetime news anchor from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Blotz joined the FOX 9 news team in January 2004, after previously working for KOAT 7.
Tim Blotz Education
For his education, he attended American University where he studied political science. He studied at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he earned a Bachelor of Science in political science and communication. In addition, he also attended the University of St. Thomas – Opus College of Business where he received a Mini Masters in Business Communication in 2008. Tim finally studied at the University of Minnesota where he earned a Master of Arts in strategic communication in 2011.

Blotz was brought up in Wisconsin and for a short period of time, he resided in New Mexico. He has worked at FOX 9 for over 20 years and during this time, he began the very first transportation reporting beat in the Twin Cities. In recent years, he headed FOX 9’s political coverage from the State Capitol. Over the years, his outstanding work as a news anchor has received recognition with five Emmy aways and an Edward R. Murrow award for writing.
In addition, he is very passionate about working with his family in order to find a cure for Type-1 diabetes, and both of his daughters were diagnosed with T1D as children. As a result, Tim and his wife, Susan became actively involved in JDRF. The JDRF organization honored Tim with its award for public service in 2012.
Furthermore, he reported Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance reporting on its while working extensively with Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance. All over the state, many people have decorated and pained masks that tell the stories of their own brain injuries. Every year, Tim hosts both the organization’s Walk for Thought and the Strides for Stroke Walk.
