Tim Blake Nelson Watchmen
Nelson appears as Detective Wade Tillman, known publicly under the codename Looking Glass, a paranoid, introverted police officer who specializes in interrogation for the Tulsa Police Department. He was traumatized for life during the 11/2 Psychic Shockwave in 1985 and was an instrumental player in the investigation of the Cyclops conspiracy thirty-four years later. Wade joined other young people on a missionary journey to Hoboken, New Jersey, on November 2, 1985, where they preached to “the sinners” about the impending apocalyptic devastation caused by nuclear war. He additionally made an attempt to talk with some members of the Knot Top gang when they stopped at a carnival. Wade was being harassed by the gang’s members when a young woman named Roxi intervened. She led Wade by the hand through the carnival and into the Hall of Mirrors.
At the beginning of their conversation, Wade talked about his work in New Jersey and shared with his congregation their belief that the end was close and that midnight would mark the Doomsday Clock, given that the US and the USSR were on the verge of nuclear war. Roxi then said that she would like to have sex with Wade under these circumstances and took off all of his clothes. Wade would be left behind in the Hall of Mirrors as Roxi fled with them. As he bemoaned his sinfulness and her deceit, a massive extraterrestrial squid appeared out of the harbor and teleported into New York City. Additionally, Wade was shielded from the mental blast by the mirrors, which allowed him to escape the attack even though millions were slain by it. Wade was traumatized and began to fear and worry about squid attacks after that.
