Tashanea Whitlow Biography
Tashanea Whitlow is an American anchor working for FOX 5 as a weekday morning co-host of Good Day Wakeup which airs from 4:30 a.m. – 7 a.m. She joined the FOX 5 news team in June 2022.
Prior to joining FOX 5, Whitlow worked for Black News Channel (BNC) where she served as a national dayside anchor for almost two years. She has also previously worked for CBS Boston where she served as a general assignment reporter. In addition, as she worked at CBS Boston, she distinguished herself as an important part of the news team by earning the station a number of exclusives.
Tashanea began her professional television career at WWLP – 22News in western Massachusetts where she served as a weekend morning anchor. One of her career highlights is having flown with the iconic Geico Skytypers, in their World War II-era planes, while holding a camera. Over the years, Whitlow has covered events such as; the Coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the black community, and the riots after the death of George Floyd.
In addition, Whitlow has had the opportunity to interview everyone from Dr. Fauci to Rick Ross. Her interviews are memorable as a result of her commanding presence and relatable tone. She was the announcer of the 123rd Boston Marathon, where she motivated many world-class runners as they stepped off the start line. Furthermore, she attended Emerson College in Boston where she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. While she was in college, she covered the 87th Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
Furthermore, Tashanea is a member of the board of Roxbury Community College’s Broadcast Media Technology program. She assists in the implementation of new initiatives to reach students of color. During her leisure time, she enjoys traveling, dancing, and working out. She is always looking forward to learning and uncovering hidden gems within the city with the help of FOX 5 viewers.
