Taryn Asher Biography

Taryn Asher is an American anchor working for FOX 2, as the evening anchor at 5, 6, 10, and 11 pm. alongside Roop Raj. She joined FOX 2/WJBK on September 2007, after working at WJRT ABC 12 for seven years.

Fenton is Asher’s native home and she decided that she was going to e a broadcast journalist when she was 8 years old. She attended Powers Catholic High School in Flint where she graduated with a diploma. Later on, she joined Michigan State University where she studied political science and journalism. After having graduated, Taryn secured a job at Lansing’s CBS station where she served as an anchor and reporter before later working for ABC 12.

While Taryn worked in Flint she served as the 5 pm anchor and in 2007, she shifted to FOX 2. Over the years, she has covered everything from politics to presidents, to taking on those who are responsible, to the most dangerous crimes, and also assisting in changing state law to ban the sale of synthetic drugs. In addition, she has won a total of 6 Emmys inclusive of Best News Anchor and many awards from the Associated Press and the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

What Asher values most is being able to give back to the community and teaching her daughter its importance. Over the years, she has been actively supportive of a number of organizations such as Light House of Oakland and COTS Homeless Shelter. Furthermore, during her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family and going on vacations.
