Sue Serio Biography
Sue Serio is an American meteorologist and weather anchor working for FOX 29 as a weather anchor for Good Day Philadelphia. She joined the FOX 29 news team in 1997.
Sue Serio Career
For the last twenty years, Serio has forecasted outdoors in everything from wild winds at the shore to blizzards and thunderstorms. One of her career highlights is having let movie star Mark Wahlberg do her job on the air! Before Sue joined FOX 29, she worked at CBS affiliate WIVB-TV, in Buffalo, New York where she served as the morning co-anchor of WAKE-UP. In addition, she also served as the co-anchor of the station “News at Noon.”
Before Sue worked at WIVB-TV, she was in Philadelphia where she worked at WHYY-TV 12(PBS) where she served as a weather anchor and feature reporter on the evening newscast. Serio attended Towson University in Maryland where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication. She then began her broadcasting career in radio at WMAR-FM in Baltimore. She has also served as the host of many radio shows including; WBAL in Baltimore, WKSZ-FM, where she co-hosted the morning show, and WSTW in Wilmington, DE, where she was the morning show co-host. In addition, she also worked at WMGK in Philadelphia, where she served as the host and producer of the popular “Magic After Dark.
Sue has received five Emmy nominations from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. In November 1994, she was honored by the Academy for her weather forecasting with an Outstanding Individual Achievement Award. The Mississippi State University awarded Serio with the Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology in June 1995. In addition, she is an active member of the community who volunteers for events at the; Tyler Arboretum, the SPCA, the Media Theatre, and many more.
Furthermore, she is the Co-Chair of the local Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk. In addition, she served on the Advisory Board of the Main Line Animal Rescue and she is on the Board of the Camden Children’s Garden. During her leisure time, she enjoys; going to the movies, sleeping, knitting and other needlework, and walking Rufus, the family dog.
